How do I apply?

How do I make a .pdf file?
Most document apps (Word, Google Docs, etc.) have a Save As function to save the document as a PDF file in the Print menu. You can also Download as PDF in Google Suite.

Why does my CV/Resume need to be in .pdf format?
PDF (portable document format) is the standard format for sharing documents across the web and email. It is designed to allow everyone to read your document without regard to the software installed on their device.

What is a CV?
CV or C/V stands for curriculum vitae. This is a document similar to a resume that shows one's education, experience, exhibition record, publication record, and other pertinent professional information. Here is a source for more information.

Is there a place that helps artists with the business of being an artist?
GYST is a website with several thousand pages of information, software for art businesses, and forums where you can get answers. GYST has tips and techniques for everything from photographing your work, developing a CV, writing artist statements, applying for opportunities, managing public relations, to contracts and more.

What if I don't have a website?
You can provide a link to your Instagram account or to a Pinterest board or a personal blog. There will need to be at least 8-12 pictures of your work completed in the last two years.

How do I make a website?
The options for this are many, and it is easier now than ever. Free options include Weebly.com, Blogger.com, WordPress.com, Pinterest, iPage.com, and many more. If you wish to use a paid website, the first step is to register a domain name with GoDaddy.com. When registering a domain name, the best choice is likely to be "firstnamelastname.com." You can then host this name with GoDaddy or any web host of your choice. Contemporary web-hosting companies offer easy-to-use, drag-and-drop webpage builders. GoDaddy, Weebly, and SquareSpace are examples. These hosts also have detailed tutorials on how to create webpages and 24/7 phone support. Content can be copied and pasted from your word-processing software. Images can be uploaded in .jpeg format. Another option is Instagram, where you can use the app to upload pictures of your work.

Why does the committee only review applications intermittently? Why would it take some time for my application to be reviewed?
Members of FIG are volunteers, with busy lives managing our jobs, children, relationships, and art careers, not necessarily in this order. Please be patient.

Do I have to make feminist art to be in the group?
No, you do not need to make feminist art to be in the group, but you do need to be a feminist. A feminist supports the idea of feminism.
Definition of feminism
1 : the theory of the political, economic, and social equality of ALL the sexes
2 : organized activity on behalf of women's rights and interests
FIG also supports organized activity and rights for all genders, especially those that have been minimized politically, economically, and socially.
